50X Exchange: How to register and activate Two-factor Authentication (2FA)
This guide will explain how to create a new account on 50X exchange (former STeX) and how to switch on Two-factor Authentication (2FA) for better security. This process is easy and will not take too long. 2FA is a very important feature and any trader MUST use the benefits it gives to protect his funds.
Step 1: Go to the 50X Exchange website: https://50x.com/
Step 2: Find a large REGISTER button on the left. The button is so huge that it’s impossible to miss it.
Step 3: A standard window will appear. It will ask you to enter your e-mail, password, and confirmation of the password.
Pay attention: the password MUST be strong; otherwise, the system will not accept it and you will see an error message. It must have at least 6 characters with uppercase and lowercase symbols. Also use numbers.
Always keep your password in a safe place. It’s better to have a separate file encrypted with Boxcryptor or similar software.
Step 4: After this, an e-mail will arrive at the address you have submitted in the previous form. You need to activate your account. If you don’t see an e-mail - go to Spam folder. If there is no e-mail there you should wait for 20 minutes (there may be a delay) and contact official support if it doesn’t arrive.
Step 5: After you have confirmed the e-mail, you can enter your account.
Enabling 2FA
The first part is finished, but that’s not the end. Now you need to turn on Two-factor Authentication (2FA) to increase the security of your funds. Moreover, the exchange will not let you make a deposit if 2FA is not active. So the system will force you to do it.
Step 1: Download Google Authenticator to your trusted smartphone. This application is used by many exchanges and other companies. It will be generating special codes you will have to enter each time you want to log in to 50X.
Step 2: Enter your 50X account using login and password. Go to PERSONAL CABINET -> ACCOUNT and turn on Two-step Verification in the Security block. This will initiate the process of adding 2FA.
Step 3: You will see a popup window with a special QR code and a backup key below this code. You need to scan the QR code with Google Authenticator. Pay attention: the key below QR code will allow recovering access to authenticator if you lose your smartphone!!! So you MUST write down this key or copy it to a secret file.
Step 4: Press next and the system will ask you to enter the code, generated by Google Authenticator to confirm your actions. Open the Authenticator and the code will be there. Enter it and continue.
Congratulations! Now your account is fully secured and the deposit option is unlocked. We have written a detailed step by step guide that will allow you to make a deposit without troubles fast.
F.A.Q - Popular Questions
Q: I am trying to recover the password but the e-mail doesn’t arrive. What to do?
A: First of all, visit your Spam folder. If there is no e-mail there, get in touch with support. Maybe there is a problem with their mail servers. They will help you anyway.
Q: I don’t want to use Google Authenticator. Is there any other way of 2FA available?
A: No, right now there is only one option.
Q: What to do, if I lose my smartphone with the authenticator?
A: If you have a backup key, you can recover access to the authenticator. Anyway, we recommend re-enabling 2FA after this. If you don’t have a backup key, the support will require you to pass full verification in order to let you access your account. That's why we always recommend to keep your backup key!
